In this class, you’ll learn about a variety of mushrooms and lichens native to the PNW that can be used as natural dyes. We will discuss how to process the materials, prepare fabrics, and create a dye pot. The class will start with a lecture, and then students will have the opportunity to work with the mushrooms and lichens provided, create a dye pot, and leave with some naturally dyed fabric!
What to bring:
- Water
- Lunch/snacks
- Camp chair
- Layers! (We’ll be outside under a heated tent)
- Something made from natural fibers you’d like to dye (this is optional, we will also provide silk bandanas to dye)
