Lichens 101-

Wildwood Folk School is proud to be an invited educator at the 2025 Fall Show hosted by the Oregon Mycological Society (OMS)!

In the days leading up to the show, OMS members and volunteers collect specimens and curate an impressive display of mushrooms found throughout the region—each carefully labeled and presented. This year, a new black light display will be a key feature of the show, offering a stunning look at the fluorescent side of fungi!

The event also highlights the work and information of various OMS committees and education partners, including Mushroom Dyeing, Cultivation, Culinary, Beginner & Advanced ID, Toxicology, Search & Rescue and more. Visitors can explore mushroom-themed vendors, enjoy samples from a guest chef (this year featuring Morchella), and immerse themselves in the world of fungi.

Wildwood Folk School will be providing educational materials on Lichen 101, and Shelby will be presenting as a featured speaker at 2:30 p.m.
